Why businesses refer to us

What makes us different from a standard EAP service

Multi-skilled therapists under one roof

Our team are multi-skilled specialists, able to support both straightforward presentations and more complex needs such as illness, grief, PTSD, transitions and loss. With a broad range of therapeutic expertise under one clinical roof, clients do not need to move between different providers to find the right therapist. This saves time, reduces delays and helps people get back to work sooner. Whether treating straightforward anxiety or Complex PTSD, we match clients with appropriately skilled clinicians in-house, at no extra cost to the employer.

Accredited clinicians only

Your employee is seen by a BABCP accredited CBT therapist, an HCPC-registered clinical psychologist or an accredited EMDR practitioner. Registrations are verifiable on the public registers, and we will name the clinician on request.

A structured approach

We work with clear objectives and scheduled reviews, bringing therapy to a close when goals are met.

The referral pathway

Four steps in our process.

  1. 01

    Referral process

One email from HR with the employee's consent, requesting access to Birch Therapy services.

  2. 02

    Initial assessment

A 50-minute assessment with an accredited clinician establishes the presenting difficulty, risk, suitability and the recommended modality and session range.

  3. 03

Employee is matched to the right therapist

The employee is allocated to the clinician best suited to them, with a consistent weekly slot on Microsoft Teams.

  4. 04

    Confidential attendance analytics

Employers are kept up to date on the number of employees that have accessed, started, and completed sessions. We then provide a summary of clinical outcome measures.

Clinical governance and confidentiality

Who sees your employee

Accredited or registered clinicians only, BABCP, HCPC and EMDR UK. Registration numbers are supplied on request and are publicly verifiable.

Supervision and oversight

Every clinician receives regular BABCP clinical supervision. Complex trauma referrals run on a dual-therapist model, so a second senior clinician is close to the case.

Insurance and complaints

Full professional indemnity cover is in place, with a written complaints procedure and recourse to the relevant professional body. Certificates are available for your records.

What we tell you, and what we don't

You will be informed of employee attendance and episode status only. Employee confidentiality is maintained at all times, which means non-disclosure of clinical notes or therapeutic materials .

Data handling

UK GDPR compliant, ICO registered, with clinical records held encrypted and retained to professional-body requirements. Sessions run on Microsoft Teams and are never recorded. A data processing agreement can be signed at onboarding.

Risk and escalation

Risk is evaluated at assessment and regularly reviewed. Where safeguarding concerns are raised, we would inform the appropriate parties, often the primary care provider, such as GP. This is discussed with the employee beforehand.
